Tiebreakers
Ties in the standings will be broken by the following methods, in this order:
(1) The team with the most wins in league play will receive the higher standing. Regulation time wins, overtime wins and shootout wins all are valued equally.
(2) The team with the best record (wins and losses) in games between the two (or more) teams tied will receive the higher standing. Points earned in overtime wins and shootout wins are included in the tiebreaker.
(3) The team with the best goals for and against in games involving only those teams that are tied will receive the higher standing. NOTE: A shootout goal is counted as one goal for in the tiebreaker for the winning teams, and one goal against in the tiebreaker for the losing team.
(4) The team with the best goals for and against in all games in the regular season will receive the higher standing.
(5) The team(s) tied with the best record against the highest standing team (overall points) remaining will receive the higher standing. If teams are still tied after this, then goals for and against will be counted. If teams still tied, then the tiebreaker will advance to the next highest teams in the standings and the procedure repeated.
